SAFARI LODGES IN NORMANDY
3 hours from Calais
No need to travel thousands of miles to spend a night on the plains of the African savannah you can enjoy the experience just across the channel in Normandy.  Situated only an hours drive from the ferry port of Caen, 2 hours from Paris,
and approximately 3 hours from Calais in the heart of the Pays D’Auge region of Normandy, France, this is a great location for a short break with a difference or for adding a most unusual en-route 3 night stay to or from your main holiday.
SAFARI LODGES IN NORMANDY
You will stay in a modern wooden bungalow, raised on stilts, situated on the edge of an award winning zoological park.  The Safari Lodges sleep up to 6 and comprise of a spacious lounge with wicker seating and sofa bed. TV, Kitchenette with 2 burner hob, microwave oven/grill and fridge.  Shower room and, to add to your safari experience, a double bedroom complete with mosquito net!  A wooden staircase leads past African style wall hangings to an open mezzanine with 2 single beds.  Each lodge is tastefully decorated to mirror the wildlife theme and you will appreciate the attention to detail from the eco-friendly solar panels for hot water to the themed crockery.  Large glass doors opening onto your veranda give a panoramic view to the safari park or maybe a spectacular sunset.
The 26 lodge village overlooks a small valley and lake where Indian Rhinoceros, Antelopes, and Siamong Gibbons live only a few metres away.  Small inoffensive animals such as Wallaby and Deer roam freely around the lodges and the lake is home to many exotic birds such as Pelicans, Cranes and Ibis.  From your private terrace you will enjoy the privilege of observing exceptional sights and sounds anytime of day (or night) as the animals feed and play.  This is a place of calm in harmony with nature.
safari village
A pathway around the lodges leads to the reception area where friendly English speaking staff will help you get the most from your stay with advice on the Safari Park and places of interest, including local produce and markets.  You can even enjoy a continental breakfast on the reception terrace.  A short stroll further along the pathway and you arrive at the “La Pagode” restaurant.  Weather permiting you could dine al-fresco on its large terrace, overlooking the animals in the valley below.  Beyond the restaurant is the entrance to the park itself where 95 species, approximately 500 animals, live in 120 acres of natural surroundings.  Take the safari train or walk around the park and expect to see lions, tigers, giraffes, bears, monkeys, kangaroos, zebras and panthers; the list is endless.  Not to be missed is the “contact” area where young and old alike can feed and play with animals such as the miniature mountain goats.
If you stay a little longer in this unique atmosphere you will find other places of interests close by.  The safari village is located on the outskirts of Lisieux with its white Byzantine basilica of Ste Therese, (one of the largest churches built anywhere in the world in the 20th century). The resorts of Deaville, Trouville and Honfleur are within 20 miles or you can enjoy the beautiful countryside of the Pays d’Auge region with its pretty houses, “cider route” and “cheese villages” of Camembert, Livarot and Pont l’Eveque.
Remember, however you spend your day, your complementary pass allows you to re-visit the park at any time and then enjoy the unique experience of staying somewhere surrounded by nature and the magical world of wildlife.
Our visitors comments say it all

I just wanted to drop you a line to say how brilliant our short stay at the safari lodges was. I can’t think of anywhere better to take our animal mad children. The lodges are comfortable enough, but the real attractions are the animals all around. Sitting on the balcony as the sun goes down watching rhinos, gazelles and gibbons is just magical. The high point though was the behind the scenes Privilege tour with the conservation officer  which was mind blowing for all of us. I’ve never been that close to a rhino before, let alone stroked it. The children almost burst with excitement, especially when Bambi the hand reared deer came up to them to be stroked (being a few feet from a lion seemed a little tame after that). Thanks also to the lovely English lady at reception who organized deliveries of fresh bread and croissants during the stay. A nice touch. We hope to return in a couple of years and have recommended you to all our friends.

OBSERVATOIRES

For an unusual en-route stay at the start or end of your main holiday try the new "Observatoires" which can be booked for 1 or 2 nights.
Sleeping up to 4 people these compact wooden chalets occupy a prime location overlooking "monkey island" and consist of open plan ground floor with sofa-bed, kitchenette (hob, microwave oven, fridge) and shower room.  A step ladder leads to the mezzanine with double bed (sorry, the ladder makes this room unsuitable for young children or anyone with reduced mobility)

Prices below are for the Observatoire Accommodation only, preferential ferry and Eurotunnel rates offered.
